Let’s be honest—hair care can feel overwhelming. Between all the products, routines, and “miracle” treatments out there, it’s hard to know what actually works and what’s just hype. Over the years, I’ve tested a lot of different things (some winners, some total fails), and I wanted to share a few easy hair care tips that have made a real difference for me.

1. Don’t Over-Wash

One of the biggest game-changers for me was realizing I don’t need to wash my hair every single day. Over-washing can strip your scalp of natural oils, leaving your hair dry and frizzy. Now, I wash mine about 2–3 times per week, and my hair feels so much healthier. In between washes, I use the IGK First Class Charcoal Detox Dry Shampoo, and it keeps everything feeling fresh.

2. Use a Heat Protectant

If you use a blow dryer, straightener, or curling iron, please don’t skip this step. Heat protectant sprays act like a shield between your hair and hot tools, preventing damage and split ends. I’ve been using the Moroccanoil Perfect Defense Heat Protectant, and it’s become a staple in my routine.

3. Invest in a Good Brush

It sounds small, but the right brush really makes a difference. I recently switched to a boar bristle brush, and it’s been amazing for reducing breakage and helping distribute oils evenly through my hair.

4. Treat Yourself to Hair Masks

Hair masks are like a spa day for your hair. Using one once a week gives your strands an extra boost of hydration and shine. I’ve noticed my hair feels softer and looks less frizzy when I stay consistent. One of my favorites is the OUAI Fine to Medium Hair Treatment Masque—it smells amazing, too.

5. Coconut Oil for the Win

Coconut oil is one of those simple, affordable products that actually works. I like using a tiny bit on the ends of my hair as a natural leave-in treatment, or as an overnight mask when my hair feels extra dry. I keep this coconut oil on hand, and it doubles as a skincare go-to, too.

6. Hair Oils Are a Lifesaver

A few drops of hair oil (argan, jojoba, or even coconut again!) go a long way in keeping hair smooth and shiny. I run it through the ends of my hair after styling—no more frizz halo. I’ve been loving this OGX Renewing Argan Oil of Morocco Penetrating Hair Oil, because it doesn’t weigh my hair down.

7. Be Gentle When Wet

Your hair is extra fragile when it’s wet, so try using a wide-tooth comb instead of a regular brush. I grabbed this one online, and it’s been a simple switch that really helps prevent breakage.

At the end of the day, healthy hair doesn’t have to be complicated—it’s all about small habits that add up over time. If you’ve been looking for an excuse to refresh your routine, this might be your sign.
